How to Care for Your Marble Fireplace Surround

A natural stone surround or hearth can add beauty and elegance to a room for a lifetime with very little care.

Dust the stone surface with a clean cloth and then use only a mild liquid detergent like Dove with warm water on a soft damp cloth. Rinse the surface thoroughly with clean water and dry with a soft cloth. Once cleaned, you may apply a polish recommended for marble surfaces.

» Blot up spills immediately to prevent staining, particularly red wines, juices or soft drinks.

» Use 0000 steel wool and mild soap to remove dirt from crevices.

» Don't use products that contain vinegar, lemon juice, ammonia, alcohol or cleaners that contain
acids such as bathroom cleaners, tub and tile cleaners, Windex or abrasive cleaners like
      soft scrub.

How to Care for Your Stone Veneer

Cleaning - Dirt may be removed my using a strong solution of granulated soap or detergent and water with a bristle brush. Do not use a wire brush, as it will damage the surface. Rinse immediately with fresh water.  Do not attempt to clean using acid or acid containing products. Do not clean with high pressure power washers.

Salt and De-icing Materials - Because all concrete and masonry is vulnerable to damage by salt, do not use de-icing chemicals on areas immediately adjacent to your stone veneer application.

Scuffing - Scuffing occurs on all natural stone.  Occasionally some scuffing will occur on the surface of stone veneer.  This can enhance the natural appearance.  Some scuffing can be removed by cleaning as instructed above.

Garage door safety information

Your garage door is the largest moving component in your home.  It is equipped with a spring loaded counter balance system that has been adjusted by a qualified technician.

Adjustments to the counter balance system, or adjustment of hinges or other parts, can be very dangerous and should only be preformed by a qualified service person.

Your door's safety system should be inspected on a regular basis.  Consult the owner's manual for your door and operator for guidelines.

Children should never be allowed to play around an operating garage door.
